Mold Testing and Cleaning Products

Got Mold? It is estimated that over 60% of buildings in the US have some degree of microbial growth. Given our modern-day building practices, this should be no surprise. Despite our best efforts to keep water intrusion at bay, we still get exposed to mold spores in the built environment. To help keep our buildings as healthy as possible, I recommend the following products.

The best way to ensure if your home or workplace has a mold problem is to hire an Indoor Air Quality professional.  When that’s not possible, using agar test plates can provide some good information. I like these plates from Immunolytics which include a detailed analysis of the spores found in your sample.

After a mold remediation, you want to ensure your entire home is cleaned thoroughly. As mold spores are everywhere in our environment, it’s important to keep these spores to a minimum.  The cleaning products from CitriSafe will help keep your entire home clean.

The mold-specific cleaning products from Micro Balance are also great to have on hand for regular cleaning. I use the laundry additive with every wash and recommend the candles for both your home and office. Their supplement line is also helpful for those suffering chronic issues.

One of the most overlooked sources of mold contamination I find is from washing machines – especially from front-loaders!  I routinely find microbial growth in washing machines which then transfers to all of your clothes, bedding, and towels.  Regular maintenance will help keep this issue at bay.  I like the Truly Free washing machine cleaner, as well as their other environmentally friendly products.

This washing machine cleaner is a must-have to keep microbes at bay in any laundry room.  Use regularly for best results.

This non-toxic laundry detergent works great, plus the reusable jug saves loads of plastic from landfills.

This fruit and veggie wash helps to remove pesticides and herbicides from your produce, even organic!
